Can deck stain be applied with a roller?

Can Deck Stain Be Applied with RollerSome deck stains can be applied with a roller. Solid color deck stains are similar to paint and can be applied evenly with a roller. Be careful not to overapply and gently scrape away excess before it dries to avoid peeling. Penetrating deck stains should not be rolled on. Applying semi-transparent penetrating deck stains with brushes and pads allows the stain to be worked into the grain of the wood for better protection.
