HELP! What steps should I take next?
I’m having our deck professionally stained. I was not satisfied with the pressure washing done by the company, so I took matters into my own hands (regretfully).
I bought a Ryobi 2300 psi surface cleaner to attach to my pressure washer and blasted away. Now the part that I did (see attached picture) looks dramatically cleaner and more orange than the rest of the deck. It appears to be making slight fuzzies.
Now I’m not sure what to do.
Option #1: Should I leave it as is and have them stain it? Will that cause the deck stain (we’re doing transparent; dark walnut color) to show unevenly? Or will the dark stain cover everything?
Option #2: Run the surface cleaner all over the entire deck so it all looks uniform. Then Have them stain it.
Option #3: Run the surface cleaner all over the deck so it looks uniform. Then rent a floor sander from Home Depot and sand off the fuzzies. I’ve read that the sanding actually improves adherence.
I’m a bit desperate for help here. I don’t want the end product to look badly or to do damage to my deck. 🙁
