About a year ago I replaced half of my deck and sanded the old section smooth. I am about to stain it and am wondering if I should sand it again, or just clean and brighten the wood?

Also, I would use a standard stain and not a hardwood stain for a pine deck. Is that correct?

If using the same stain and brand, just clean and brighten the wood. If switching brands, you will need to remove by stripping or sanding. Brighten after.

No. Use a regular wood deck stain.
