3 years ago we put Penofin Penetrating Oil on our cedar deck. We do not like how it looks and want to stain the deck. I assumed we would need to strip, because we are changing products, even after power washing. However, after reading various questions and answers, I am not sure if we need to strip or just clean. Please see attached pictures.

I used 120 grit sandpaper on an old deck. Can I resand with 60-80 grit to roughen it up?

Love your website although the amount of info is somewhat overwhelming. Can you just answer a couple of questions for me?
Can TWP 100 semi transparent stain be applied to a new deck after cleaning/brightening if there is no visible water and the wood is only damp to the touch?
I have 1300 sq. ft. to stain of new PT wood, The deck has seasoned for 7 months in southwest Georgia. Based on coverage estimates, I will need around 4.33 gals – 8.7 gals. Based on your knowledge with new decking, what do you think it will take?
