CUTEK® Extreme is a high-performance penetrating wood oil and stabilizer designed to protect exterior wood from the inside out while enhancing its natural beauty.

Unlike traditional deck stains or film-forming wood coatings, CUTEK® Extreme penetrates deeply into the wood fibers to stabilize the wood structure and reduce damage caused by moisture movement.

Once absorbed, the oil remains permanently mobile within the wood, allowing it to migrate to newly exposed areas such as cuts, joints, or fastener holes. This unique self-healing effect helps maintain protection and improves the dimensional stability of wood over time.

CUTEK® Extreme is supplied as a clear penetrating oil.

When applied without a Colortone, the wood will naturally lighten and weather to a silver-gray patina when exposed to sunlight and UV.

Even when wood naturally grays, CUTEK® Extreme continues to protect the wood internally from moisture intrusion.

To maintain the freshly oiled appearance or enhance the natural color of wood, CUTEK® Extreme can be mixed with one of 18 CUTEK® Colortones.

CUTEK® Application Overview

Before starting, review all safety precautions on the product label and Safety Data Sheet and ensure appropriate protective equipment is used.

Weather Conditions

After application, CUTEK® Extreme typically requires 3–5 days of dry weather to allow full penetration and diffusion into the wood.

Always check the weather forecast before coating.

CUTEK® Surface Preparation

For best results, wood must be:

• clean

• dry

• free of grease and contaminants

• free of chemical residues

• free of any previous coatings or stains

Wood moisture content should be below 17%.

Avoid coating in dusty conditions or where contaminants may settle on the surface during drying.

Mixing Instructions

• Stir the CUTEK® Colortone thoroughly before adding it to clear CUTEK® Extreme.

• Stir the mixture for about 2 minutes, lifting from the bottom of the can.

• Continue stirring periodically during application to maintain even color.

Application

Apply using a brush, floor brush, or paint pad applicator. Apply thin, even coats. Two or three thin coats provide better penetration and drying than one or two thick coats.

Pre-Installation Application

1. Apply one coat of clear CUTEK® Extreme to all sides of the wood before installation.

2. After installation, apply a second coat to the exposed surface once the first coat has diffused.

Post-Construction Application

If coating installed wood apply two thin coats to accessible surfaces and allow the first coat to fully penetrate and dry before applying the second. Dense hardwoods absorb oil more slowly, so thin coats are essential.

CUTEK® Extreme Drying and Diffusion

Unlike traditional wood coatings, CUTEK® Extreme must penetrate and diffuse into the wood structure.

Drying Time
Unlike traditional wood coatings, CUTEK® Extreme needs to penetrate/diffuse deeply into your wood. After coating, CUTEK® Extreme will slowly migrate into your wood to repel moisture, improve dimensional stability, and lengthen the service life of your wood. This penetration/diffusion process varies in time for many reasons, including differences in wood type (species, density, porosity, age of wood, and residual moisture content) as well as environmental factors (temperature, humidity, weather). Sometimes this drying process can take several days to complete. You will know when your wood is ready for an additional coat of CUTEK® Extreme when it is completely dry and non-greasy. To test: press a tissue or rag on the wood, and if there is no transfer, it is dry. Please note the second coat of CUTEK® Extreme will take longer to migrate into your wood than the first coat.

Drying time depends on wood species, wood density, wood porosity, temperature, and humidity. The wood is ready for another coat when the surface is dry and no longer greasy. The second coat often takes longer to diffuse than the first coat.

Tools and equipment may be cleaned using:

• soap and water

Improper disposal of oily materials may cause spontaneous combustion. After use, spread oily rags flat outdoors to dry, or wash thoroughly with detergent and water. Dispose of wash water according to local regulations.

No. It penetrates the wood rather than forming a surface film, so it fades instead of peeling.
