I am installing 4×8 sheets of rough cut pine, 8 in on center siding. It’s almost September. Are you recommending that I leave it un stained till spring being its new siding.??
If you are using rough-cut wood, you do not need to weather the wood and can stain right away as long as it is clean.
My apologies I meant to say brightener not conditioner
You always have to use a brightener after a cleaner or stain stripper. Wood type does not matter.
Ok Scott last questions my fence is rough hewn Minnesota cedar around 5yrs old I have cleaned it with a power washer using zep PW cleaner down to original surface I am ocd out the *** I am going to use Twp 1500 rustic stain I have read you don’t have to use conditioner on rough cedar is this true as I am trying to save a little time and money as this has been a tedious job
Conditioner? Not sure what that is or what you mean.
I live in Pennsylvania and I have about 1000 ft.² of rough Cedar fencing which would be more recommended the 100 or 1500 series of TWP and do they each last same amount of time before redoing?
You need the 1500 Series for PA. They last the same. On a fence, 4-6 years is normal.
Can you go over oil based stain with latex in future if unable to get oil stain
(TWP 100)
No, you would have to remove the TWP 100 Series, but there would be no reason to ever do this. Just switch to the TWP 1500 Series, which is oil-based and compliant with all US states’ VOC laws.
I could not find ANYWHERE how many sq. ft. 5 gallons covers.
150-250 sq. feet per gallon, per coat.
TWP 100 Series gave my deck a rich, natural look while protecting it from rain and sun. Application was easy and the stain soaked in perfectly with no sticky residue. Months later, it still looks great and has held up well. Definitely a product I’ll use again!
The TWP 100 Series worked great on our fence! Lasted about 5 years before the need to recoat!
